The Guardian Ministry is a safety and security volunteer ministry that provides parishes with a peaceful and safe place to worship. Volunteers within the ministry are trained and equipped to respond to fire, weather, medical, and other emergencies. By doing so, we can ensure our parishioners’ safety and bridge the gap between the unexpected and when first responders arrive.

GUARDIANS

• Responsible for maintaining a safe environment at Mass and other parish events. They are trained to coordinate our parish’s emergency plan in response to fire, weather, or man-made emergencies. In response to man-made emergencies, they prioritize de-escalating any situation to restore order.
• We ask that all law enforcement officers contact the parish so that we know who they are and which Mass they usually attend to help us assist us in our emergency responses.

MEDICAL TEAM

• Responsible for responding to medical emergencies with life-saving equipment (AED, medical bag) to provide care until Paramedics can arrive to evaluate the patient.
  • Level I - Medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, EMTS, and firefighters.
  • Level II - Volunteers, with training provided through the parish (such as CPR/First Aid), willing to assist in responding to medical emergencies.
• We ask that all medical professionals contact the parish so that we know who they are and which Mass they usually attend to help us assist us in our emergency responses.

USHERS AND GREETERS

• Although separate from the Guardian Ministry, ushers and greeters can help provide a safe and secure environment by having situational awareness as they welcome visitors to the parish and assist during the Mass.

In coordination with local law enforcement, we offer CRASE training to everyone who would like to know what to do should they confront an active shooter event.

The Next CRASE training will be on March 19th, during the KC Breakfast in the Parish Center. All parishioners are invited.
