Faith Formation Plan for Fall of 2020

Hello Everyone!

I hope this post finds you all very well. Last week, we received a memo from the Bishop that all Faith Formation must happen online for the fall semester. So, our old plan of having an in-person option is no longer in effect! In order to have time to make a new plan, we pushed back the start date to October 4th. All formation will be online, and this means different things for different age groups.

For 1st-8th grade: We will be using Sophia Institute's Spirit of Truth online program. We will sign you up and give you a link (via your email) to your child's "portal", where they can sign in and do their weekly lesson plans. The plans are not led by one of our catechists, but are instead led by the catechists and interactive videos of Sophia Institute. These lessons can technically be completed at any time, but we strongly encourage you to keep the usual schedule of 9:15-10:45 AM on Sundays. That way, when we (hopefully) go back to in-person in the Spring, it will be an easy transition for each family. Please spend 9:15-10:45 AM on Sundays with your children! Help instruct them, learn alongside them, or just be there beside them as they do their work! It is very important that parents be involved in the formation of their children.

Catechists for 1st-8th grade will be in charge of watching over their students' progress. If your child gets behind, be expecting a call from one of our catechists reminding them to complete their work and stay up-to-date!

For high school: High school will have a Zoom call every Sunday from 9:15-10:45 AM. We will be playing games, listening to talks, watching videos, and spending time in small groups! As we can't have youth nights in-person this semester, we're incorporating fun into the faith formation calls! The call will be led by me (Jacob Hubbard), and I will have a teach of catechists
